Triggered Emails

Save time by automatically sending another email when someone clicks, opens, or doesn’t open the first email campaign.

In order to add a triggered email, you must first create a campaign that the triggers will be associated with. Triggered emails deploy after an initial email send and only deploy based on the settings you select during setup.

To Create a Triggered Email:

1. Go to Email Campaigns
2. Under one of your existing email campaigns select the Configure Icon > Add Triggered Email
3. Select a Name for the Triggered Email. The name is for your own reference only and will not be seen your email recipients.
4. Configure the email settings

  • Email Report – Allows you to receive a report of the results for this email campaign 3 days after sending
  • Enabled toggle switch to activate the trigger. You may enable the triggered email later if you want to create the content first. If it’s not enabled, then it won’t trigger the message.
  • Show in public areas toggle switch will put this email in the public archives

5. Select the Trigger Type 

  • Open
  • Non Open
  • Click

6. Select Configure Triggers (you can skip and come back to configure if you want)

Non open triggers will not have configuration settings

Configure Click Triggers

Click Triggers allow you to deploy an email after a link is clicked. this can be all links, specific links, or links that fit certain custom criteria.

Most commonly used, this will trigger for all links in your email.

All Future Messages: Trigger for any emails that are sent after you create the trigger.
All Existing Messages: Trigger for any emails that were created before you created the trigger. You can select from individual emails.

Chooser particular links that you want to use as triggers.

Enter a link:  Enter links or browse for links in previous messages.

Select which messages to include

All Future Messages:  Trigger for any emails that are sent after you create the trigger.
All Existing Messages:  Trigger for any emails that were created before you created the trigger. You can select from individual emails.

Advanced Rules:

Include only links that match a set of rules and patterns.

Matching Logic:

Contains
Doesn’t Contain
Matches Exactly
Doesn’t Match Exactly
Begins With
Ends With
Matches Pattern
Doesn’t Match Pattern

Enter a link or partial link for testing rules:  This helps you test your rule will work.
Link URL:  Enter the link URL or partial link URL.  Select the + or – Icon to add or delete rules.

Select which messages to include

All Future Messages:  Trigger for any emails that are sent after you create the trigger.
All Existing Messages:  Trigger for any emails that were created before you created the trigger. You can select from individual emails.

You can change the matching logic to view an example of the rules.

Configure Open Triggers

Select which messages to include

All Future Messages:  Trigger for any emails that are sent after you create the trigger.

All Existing Messages:  Trigger for any emails that were created before you created the trigger. You can select from individual emails.

Configure Non-Open Triggers

Non-Open triggers will deploy to contacts that had not opened the first message in the series.

7. Fill in the days and minutes in the Send After fields to send after a certain amount of time has passed.

Send After is based on the trigger event. So, if you have an open trigger it will start the send after time once the email is opened.

Advanced Settings

8. Optionally, you can turn on the Google Analytics Integration feature. Turn this setting on to integrate your email statistics with your Google Analytics account.

You must create a Google Analytics account separately through Google.

Check with support to see if this feature is enabled for your account. Some features may not be visible or available in your account.

9. Optionally, you can turn on the Authentication feature. Turn this setting on to authenticate your emails and increase deliverability with a DomainKeys/DKIM signature.

In some email clients, such as Outlook, your email may appear to be from us “On Behalf Of” when authentication is enabled. To remove the “on behalf of” turn on your DKIM and domain authentication here. If you need assistance setting up DKIM or DMARC contact our support. Regardless of this setting we automatically authenticate for these email recipients domains in your contact list. (@gmail.com, *@yahoo.*, *@rocketmail.com, *@sbcglobal.net, *@ovi.com, *@ymail.com, *@lamitca.com, *@msn.com, *@hotmail.*, *@live.*, *@verifier.port25.com, *@cox. )

10. Optionally, you can select the A/B Testing features, which would allow you to do an A/B Test for the triggered email.

11. Select Save and Continue and you will be guided through the email publishing process.
